RE: House Bill 1237
Date: January 16, 2008
|
The American Cancer Society and the SD
Tobacco Free Kids Network is one of the prime supporters of House
Bill 1237 -- an act to allow local governments authority to
regulate tobacco products. House Bill 1237 provides a
mechanism for local units of government to go above the minimum
standards of tobacco regulation set by the state legislature and
address tobacco issues, including smokefree places, in their local
communities with stricter regulations.
House Bill 1237 was introduced in the House of
Representatives and is awaiting assignment to a House Committee.
